App not responding

Recently the oringinal Contacts app that came with the phone stopped responding the phone forces it to shutdown. Found a 3rd party app that works ok but I liked some features of the original. Short of resetting the phone is there any other way to reinstall this app to functionality?

Make sure that your contacts are synced with Kies or with Google.

Then navigate to Settings, Applications, All.
Scroll down to the Contacts app and select it.
Clear Data/Cache.

Resync with your backup.
