    Bricked it. Jig help?

Ok so I've had the same problems as some of the others posting on here, where it goes straight to the system recovery screen (3e) upon start up everytime. I can get it to download mode, but my computers no longer recognize the phone. Also while in the recovery screen, i can scroll up and down, but never select anything or leave from that screen. I've read all the posts about these problems, and about the guy that jtags into them and fixes them for $50 (i think i'd rather overload the motherboard and fry it to where it wont turn on at all and just use my insurance to get a new one than pay $50).. so yeah, I ordered a Jig, it should be arriving any day now, hopefully today. But I'm not sure if that will solve my problem or not. Any thoughts?

Hello, and welcome to Galaxy Forums. I'm sorry that you are experiencing problems with your phone, but unfortunately I'm not a tech expert, so I can't offer any useful advice. We do however have an excellent group of guys called the Rescue Squad and *they* are the ones who have the knowledge to help you out. Hang on for awhile, and one of them will swing by and give you a hand.

So Odin wont even recognize your phone? I can find stock firmware you can flash with Odin to restore your device.

Side note. What were you doing that caused the phone to act weird.

yeah ODIN won't recognize it anymore. i had bought the phone from someone who had it rooted. it had wifi tether and superuser on it. but for some reason i couldn't use titanium back up on it. so i decided to mess with it and flash a different rom to it via ODIN, and it went through the process and then at the end when it said it should take about 2 minutes, well it sat there for over an hour. never finishing. eventually i had no choice but to exit the program. after that it pretty much only booted into recovery mode (3e) and ODin stopped recognizing it. there's literally nothing i can do at this point other than having someone jtag into it or possibly using a JIG (but i dont know much about those yet). With odin not recognizing i cant flash anything on it or change anything... and with my recovery screen not letting me make any selections, i cant flash from sd card or anything...

Have you spoken to the person you bought it from? If he had it rooted, he might have some insight into how to restore it.

yeah, she had someone else do it for her. regardless of how they rooted it, my issue now is how to go back to stock without using ODIN. so i need to know how the Jig works and if it will help.

Some random things that may help you get Odin to recognize it, is try different USB ports. Stock cable, and reinstalling the drivers for the phone, different computer.

If we can get you in download mode and connected to Odin we can get you squared away. While in recovery I think a softkey or the homebutton actually selects things.

I have tried different computers, different cables, and also reinstalling drivers. and as for recovery, i've tried the power button, as well as all of the softkeys, i've pressed everything in ever combination. the only buttons that react are the volume rocker buttons (they toggle my selection up and down) and the "search" key on the bottom right, but it basically just makes all the words on the screen disappear to show the big error symbol that's showing in the background. then pushing it again brings back the menu again just where it was. i appreciate everyone's fast replies on this board and your help. does anyone here know anything about using a Jig?

The jig will put you in download mode and erase the binary counter. That's all.

ok good to know, thank you. erasing the binary counter... is that what sprint looks at to decide if you've rooted your phone or not?
