Menu Screen Glitch Since EL29 Update

I did have a root option that didn't wipe the phone, but EL29 plugged that exploit. I just fixed the problem with the phone announcing all the time. When I had the phone in the car dock I had turned on driving mode (in voice talk) and it remembered that. Once I turned it of the problem went away. Still want to find a non-destructive root method.

There is a developer on XDA called sfhub that has what you need. The links are in his signature. Unfortunately (in my opinion) just from browsing through the links in his signature I am seeing talk of one click methods and I personally advise against it. I refer to them as super one bricks. It does look like he has some kernels so maybe that is the way to go.

OK sfhub is active here as well and links to an Odin file that won't wipe. You have to select "NoData" to preserve it. I can't see the links because I am not registered there. Share your EL29 update experience here!! - Page 4 - Android Forums at AndroidCentral.com

I had used a one click last time. My neighbor used Odin and said he bricked, so I'm a tiny bit nervous, having never used Odin.

Odin is the biggest safety net with Samsung devices. Lets say you did use a one click program but something went horribly wrong. Your only other option would then be Odin. So I say learn to love Odin and it will never treat you wrong.
As for your neighbor, Odin is just a program. It will only do what you tell it. So Odin didn't brick his device. He did, by not using Odin properly. I'm not trying to come off as rude or arrogant,but trust me once you use Odin once. You will wish every device had Odin.
