Rooted!!!! Now What?

After months and months of debating on if I should root my phone or not, I held my breath, closed my eyes(well not actually), and went for it. And it worked!!!!!! Yessssss it worked!!!!! After much celebrating and many back flips, it finally hit me. That obvious question that I had no idea what the answer was. What the heck did I just do? So after some online research I've discovered some interesting words, roms(no idea), kernels(still lost), superuser(yeah ok). Could it be I'm just a little bit over my head?

Thanks for the links. But the dummies thread has some links that aren't working. I'll check those apps out.
The AOKP ROM has kind of caught my eye, so I'm now trying to figure out the whole installing process with ROMS. I tried a few times last night and kept getting an error message saying the installation was aborted.

Always standby and understand how to revert back to stock before flashing custom roms, kernel..etc.

Just a little advice in advance:

If you do not install this in the proper order you will brick your phone. Your recovery will become useless and chances are your phone will not reboot.

You have to install, via Odin, EL26 Ginger bread.
Then install CWM for EL26 via Odin.
Place the rom on your SD card.
Place the Gapps on your sdcard.
Reboot into recovery.
Perform a Factory reset.
Wipe cache, wipe dalvik.
Install the rom.
Install the Gapps.
Reboot.
Profit.

Thanks Ollie. What folder should I copy the files to on the SD card?

On the default of the sdcard. So it would be /sdcard. You can copy them anywhere really. It will just be faster to navigate to them in CWM Recovery if they aren't buried in any folders.

Ok, tried and failed miserably . I'm still getting the installation aborted message. Is it possible that the file itself is corrupted?
