I'm new to this but if you're satisfied with your phone the way it is, why update? Is it true that updates can sometimes make some of the apps loaded on your device inoperable, crash or wonky?

Agg, in answer to your earlier question: yes, some updates do cause problems with your existing apps. The particular one which will be coming to the Epic 4G Touch is described as: An update is now available for Sprint's version of the Galaxy S II that brings security fixes along with the Sprint Connections Optimizer." That to me indicates that if you've rooted your phone, quite possibly it will un-root you and maybe make it impossible to re-root it, so you may want to think about it before accepting that update - although I'm no expert on your particular phone.

Thanks for your response. I have a lot to learn about all the gadgets I have and how to run them.

Re: An update may be on the way

The Connections Optimizer is pretty neat. Sprint is not my main carrier, but I do have an E4GT. The update also fixes a pretty serious security flaw in the Exynos processor in the phone. If you are rooted this might cause an issue with root, but will fix the flaw.
