Unhappy Will admit I am a NOOB w/Fascinate Verizon flashed to a local CDMA wireless company

Ok this is for all you that know the way of the Galaxy, here is the skinny. Recently I got a SCH-i500 Fascinate Verizon phone from a coworker. I am not a Verizon customer, I go through Syringa Wireless-Idaho which is still a CDMA network. Sent off the phone to the Syringa programmers be flashed to Syringa's network settings. (Now this is where i am totally a NOOB) I asked for them reinstall Samsung's Generic 2.3.5 GB update. They tried and said that the data settings wouldn't sync so I would have to go back to and deal with the Verizon version of GB. Since I cannot use the Verizon network or features I don't really want the Verizon BLOATED GB software.
How the heck do I get the Samsung Generic GB update on my phone to start off without Rooting? Is that possible? Eventually I will learn the terms and processes of Rooting but all I want is just a stock NON Verizon GB to work with the phone.
Please Help and guide me oh wise ones!
    -K

Hello Keith, and welcome to the forum!

I'm not a technician, so I can't say if what you're trying to do is even possible. However, if you can wait for awhile, one of our R/S guys will swing by and give you a hand with it.

*reads for the 5th time* I...think I understand...lol So, you still want to stay with Syringa...but want the newest operating system? Without the bloatware? I am not sure that is possible my man. Rooting should be easy enough...and then you can delete the bloat...but I am not sure if the programming will still be valid to port to Syringa.

Welcome to the forum fellow Idahoan!
If you're not stuck in a contract with Syringa, it may be easier to just switch to Verizon. From what I understand they use Verizons towers anyways, so you'd still get excellent coverage. (being an avid outdoorsman, there aren't very many places I go in SE Idaho/Wyoming/Montana where I don't have service) And as Buddy mentioned, rooting is the easy part in all of this. AND you'll always have someone here to walk you through any questions or concerns you may have along the way.
    Good luck!

Buddy and CR6 thank you for your replies. Buddy: sorry I read my post a few times and it totally made sense in my head but I think i was missing some info. So to clarify...Syringa is a local company offering the CDMA network, they have a lot of their own towers but are contracted with Verizon and Sprint for data if the Syringa towers are not in range. I know all the phones they offer in their line up are CDMA Generic Software phones, they do not bloat with their own stuff at all on the phones.
    Details and wishes:
-My Fascinate has the Verizon version of GB update on it already.
-I will be getting the phone back tomorrow from being flashed to Syringa's network parameters.
-I just want to remove the bloat such as the VCast, Navigation, Verizon Misc stuff because Syringa does not offer or use those features.
-In the future if a software update becomes available I can not get it since the current VZ GB was setup for OTA updates which I cant get. (this was the main reason I was asking about the generic GB)
-If the simple answer is I need to root to get rid of this stuff, how do I get that done?

The reason I am trying to stick with Syringa is I have a family member in their HR dept. so I get a discount. I was both a Verizon and AT&T customer in the past and had some very poor experiences with their service and customer service. And the Fascinate phone was basically given to me so who can argue with free. I like to get my hands dirty and love to learn so any help is very much appreciated.

That makes sense Keith! With the cost of cell service these days, you gotta go with any price break you can get.
Here are the instructions to root your Fascinate.
Here are the instructions for returning your Fascinate to stock Gingerbread.
Check out our Rom section Here. There are a couple fairly stable ICS roms available for the Fascinate in this section, however I'm personally running a Powerwashed GB rom for the past 6-7 months that has been extremely stable and everything works perfectly.
One of our Rescue Squad guys can suggest the best ICS rom for you.
Don't hesitate to ask any questions when you're ready to start....that's what we're here for.
    Good luck!

I GET IT! lol C covered it perfectly. To your concern about future updates...there will not be any. They have moved on from the fascinate. It is an awesome phone, but no longer their concern.

You guys rock!!! This gives me hope to unlock the true potential of my Fascinate. Looks like I am going to slap the Lab Coat on and go to work on this bad boy. If I have any questions I will post again and I will post at the end when I achieve success. Thanks Guys!

CR6: So I followed what you suggested and love it but I do have an issue. I have never been able to get my youtube to work, I get sound but no video. I updated my Flash Player but still nothing. Any ideas? I tried flashing back to the original Powerwashed GB with out the lean kernel. I am also experiencing that my text messaging can not play video either. Suggestions? Thanks.
