    GPS dead?

I have a Samsung Showcase SCH-I500. The GPS worked for a couple of months and has stopped working at all. The phone is not rooted. I have done a factory data reset, used GPS Doctor, GPS status, GPS test and GPS Aids. I have also tried the dialer to get the phone into lbstest, but the dialer does not work for my phone. Nothing seems to help. I have called Ntelos and they want me to send the phone in for repair and it will take 2 1/2 weeks. Can anybody suggest anything else to try so I won't have to send it in for repair? thanks

Hello Greg, and welcome to the forum!

I'm going to ask you to hold on for a bit, until one of our Rescue Squad guys can swing by and give you a hand.

Download and install CoPilot from the Market.

Install the map of your region and then try to get a lock on your GPS using it. If it works then launch Google Maps and try it there. Then delete CoPilot.

I had to do this with my S3 for some strange reason after none of the GPS fix apps worked.

I sure don't. Mine is really buggy on the JellyBean rom I am running. Sometimes it takes a few tries to get my location via GPS. Sometimes it takes 5 seconds.
