No, not intended as sarcasm at all. It was a case of "How could I have overlooked the obvious???" on my part.

I never got the whole widget appeal, but I could definitely see the use of having a better directory browser. I'm really gunning for one of those ad-blocking apps, ad-block plus has spoiled me on my desktop! Cheers!
AdAway works great on android once you get rooted.

I know this old but, I may need to unroot my fascinate. I only rooted last week using the OP steps. I did nothing else as far as custom stuff its stock and still bloated, all I wanted was root to run wifi tether.
But now my external speaker is out so I can either replace the speaker, if that truly is the problem or get rid of root, CWR and return the phone.
I was looking for NOTE 2 in OP and there was none.
Does anyone remember how to unroot and remove CWR so I can send the phone back?

[HOW TO] Return to Stock (EH03 Gingerbread)
Can't open su-2.3.6.1.x.zip file after rebooting phone by pressing both volume buttons. I'm new to the forum, but I've been interested in rooting my phone for a while now. I found this thread online and decided to give it a try. Before I knew it, I was wiping my cache. It didn't have the option to wipe the dalvik cache though... Maybe I've done something wrong? If anyone knows anything about this, please help.
Carefully followed the instructions at the beginning of this thread. Everything went as smooth as silk except: the link to the ClockworkMod download appears to be dead. After Googling the filename I found a free download with a very similar name: CWM3_Voodoo-blue.tar.md5. This file seems to work fine as a substitute. After going through all the steps, my Samsung Fascinate now has the Superuser app on it!![]()
Sure wish I'd found these instructions sooner, but then, on the plus side, all my previous rooting failures forced me to start working my way up the Android learning curve sooner than later.![]()
Excellent muse!Welcome to the forum and congrats on getting your Fassy rooted!
(thanks for letting us know about the dead link.....we'll get that updated)

Being a nurse, I guess it's appropriate I'm resuscitating an old thread.Anyway, I bought my daughter a Fascinate to replace her phone and tried to root it with Avatar ROM. I used Odin and got cwm3_voodoo.tar installed no problem. I installed su-2.3.6.1.x, or so I thought, then tried to install the ROM. When I boot up and look, there is no Super User app icon which I suspect is the reason the installation for the ROM is aborted. I think the message is Status 7 or something like that. I looked for help regarding that but suggestions didn't seem to get me anywhere. It's likely I'm screwing up the process in some kind of way so please make no assumptions about anything if offering advice or help. Thank you in advance.
