Galaxy Fascinate stuck on Android system recovery (3e)

I have a stock Verizon Fascinate running the last version of GB. I recently switched to Page Plus. I tried to restore factory defaults and it broke the phone. Now when I turn it on it shows this in red and blue text:

    Android system recovery (3e)
Enter: OK Key, Select : Vol UP / Vol Down
    reboot system now <-selected
    apply update from sdcard
    wipe data/factory reset
    wipe cache partition
    ------------------------------------------------
E:failed to open /res/recovery.fstab (No such file or directory)
    E:unknown volume for path [/cache/recovery/command]
    E:Can't mount /cache/recovery/command
    E:unknown volume for path [/data/fota]

    #MANUAL MODE#
    E:Can't mount /cache/recovery/recovery_kernel_log
    E:unknown volume for path [/cache/recovery/log]
    E:Can't mount /cache/recovery/log
    E:Can't open /cache/recovery/log
E:unknown volume for path [/cache/recovery/last_ log]
    E:can't mount /cache/recovery/last_log
    E:can't open /cache/recovery/last_log
    E:unknown volume for path [/cache/recovery/command]

The only button that does anything is Home, and that switches the screen between the text above and an android warning icon. If I pull the battery and restart it, I get the same thing.

    Can I save this phone?

Welcome to the forum Catnado. Sorry to hear about your issue. How long did you leave the battery out? Try min of ten minutes. If that doesn't work try volume down and power button until a menu flashes then release. Using your volume keys, scroll down to recovery and use the power button to select. Clear your cache then try a factory reset from there. Let us know how that works for you. Good luck!

    Thanks for the reply CR6.

I have only removed the battery for a few seconds. I also have not tried to restart holding the down volume and and power buttons. I tried with volume up and the power button, and holding both up and down at the same time, both of which didn't change anything. I will try your suggestion.

I tried this. No change. Still the only button that does anything is Home at the bottom (I think it's called a softkey?), and that switches the screen between the text above and an android warning icon. Any advice will be appreciated. thanks

Deleted some important photos, videos or text messages from android phone accidentally? Android File Recovery is highly recommended for you to recover deleted files that use to store in your android devices. Such as call logs, contacts, text messages, photos and videos.
