Wow....I already got an answer back to the email I sent!
Here's the reply cut and pasted right from my email.

"Thank you for your email, my name is Chris as well, and I am sorry to hear of your frustration with the preloaded applications, I will be discussing these applications and your options for them. As you mentioned the preloaded applications are embedded in the operating system of the devices and per our outstanding agreements with content providers are required to be built into the device's operating system. I can certainly understand the desire for full control over all of the applications, but regrettably we cannot support their removal (Google may have a way of doing this but we could not support it). WIth regards to the iPhone, it does indeed come with preloaded applications that cannot be removed as well (weather, stocks, mail, etc), we have not released the device yet so the full suite of embedded applications is not yet known but I can assure you the mentioned ones will be there.
Thank you again for the email. I'm sorry I can't provide a way to remove the embedded applications, Chris, but I hope I've answered your question and pointed you in the right direction. Should you have any other questions or concerns, don't hesitate to reply to this email."

While I wasn't very impressed with his reply, I was impressed with the speed of Verizons response to my email.
I'm interested to see how different the reply to my snail-mail letter will be or if its a generic response, as posted above, that is given out.
