    [?] Editing the Systemui.zip [?]

    Hey Ronnie,

Didn't want to clog up the other thread with this.

You mentioned a systemUI apk. I have flashed one via CWM that is a zip extension not an apk extension. I would imagine it is because I didn't push it through /system, but used CWM instead.

Nevermind, I looked in the zip and the apk is in there.

How do I access the files inside? I have winrar set as default for my extraction of zips. Should I use something else?

Am I pulling files out without physically extracting them and then injecting them back into the apk?

I havent used winrar for this, I use 7zip. I image winrar will work just fine.

Take that zip and unzip it.
Inside will be a META-INF folder and system folder. In the system folder there should be a apps folder. In that will be they systemUI.apk

What we want to do (since we are editing just png images.) Is extract the apk.(may have to change the apk extension to zip if winrar doest give you the option)

Once extracted navigate to the Res/drawabl-hdpi and or drawable-Xhdpi.

Inside one of those folders will be your icons.(we extracted go se can see exactly which ones are which)

Edit them, but make sure not to mess with any transparency that may be present and don't change the icons name.

Once you are done coloring with your favorite program replace the old images with the new ones and zip up the extracted apk. And rename the extension to "apk"

Place this new apk in your unzipped CWM flashing folder in /system/app. Replacing the old system UI

Rezip the flashing folder and flash it to test your changes.

    Sounds fairly simple!

So what is the difference between Res/drawabl-hdpi and or drawable-Xhdpi? Are there icons in both?

    Much thanks for the help

The difference between hdpi and xhdpi is icon size. The resolution of the screen will determine what a size the images need to be and what folder they need to go in(for the most part). Example icon 1 for hdpi is 23x23 pixels, icon 1 in a xhdpi folder is 27x27 pixels.the fascinate is built to use hdpi folders because the resolution is 480x800. The galaxy nexus uses xhdpi folders because the resolution is........bigger than the fascinates lol

You may see ldpi, mdpi, hdpi, and sw600dp-xhdpi, and xhdpi folders while your in there.

I assume the note has a higher resolution than the fassy so it should be in xhdpi.

I will have to poke around then. I lowered my Notes DPI to 240 for the huge increase in real estate. My App Drawer:

That's just plain awesome. You will know what folder has the images because 1 will have 100+ images and the others will have 1-10 images. If you can upload a copy of the system UI I would love to have a look at some note apks lol plus I can make sure the info I gave you is valid.

No, my wifi bars are similar, but have the data arrows underneath the wifi bar signal indicator. The arrows are orange and green. I want to change them to two shades of blue.
