OMG after so many tries and downloading different FIRMWARES!!! i guess i just kept uploading the wrong one for my GS2 Sky ROCKET. i downloading firmwares' for sgh-i777 when i needed it for sgh-i727

Hi,

I have a US AT&T Galaxy Note i717. During the updating firmware process, I encountered the problem of "Firmware upgrade encountered an issue. Please select recovery in Kies and try again." When I use the Power + Volume Down to enter download mode, I got the warning and then I used Volume Up to continue, and I saw the same screen as before about "Firmware upgrade encountered an issue...". But still I can get communication from Odin. I continued on using the file "I717UCLF6_I717ATTLF6_I717UCLF6_HOME.tar.md5", but I failed and got the following message:

I have a T-MOBILE, Galaxy S 4g, with FROYO.VUVKD1, KERNEL VERSION 2.6.32.9, BASEBBAND T959VUVKD1, FIRMWARE 2.2.1, MODEL SGH-T959V. I wish to upgrade to gingerbread or better but I am not sure how. I bought the phone on craigslist and I do believe the person I bought it from said that it was rooted. I have used the phone now for about a year with no problems. How can I upgrade to gingerbread or better?

Thanks for everyone's contribution to this thread. It's helped me out a lot so far and calmed me down a bit - I have hope. I was updating a Samsung Galaxy Fascinate (Telus) from Froyo to Gingerbread when it got unplugged by accident and since then has not turned on. I'm able to get into 'download mode' and if I'm in Kies it says "connecting' but never actually connects. I've downloaded odin and tried reinstalling the firmware but I think i'm missing the right one? Also, do I only need a file to put in under "PDA" in Odin or do I need various files?
I'm hoping someone here could link me to the appropriate files?

When it fails, try flashing it again right away. Make sure Kies is not running in the background of your PC and redownload your firmware again from sammobile dot com.

I'm having the same problem with my samsung s2. I'm pretty sure I have the I777. My carrier is ATT and I live in the United States. I've been trying to use the Odin fix but it fails once it beings the NAND Write Start!!! help please?!?!!!


edit - so it seems like i have the sgh-i997 which isn't even the samsung galaxy. i just bought this phone and it seems i got ripped off. is there any salvaging this?
