USB does not recognize phone after android update

I recently had a andoid update (automatic) on my samsung galaxy S2. Before the upgrade, I would be able to use the usb cable and connect one end to the phone and the other to the computer and be able to transfer pics and music. But since the recent automatic update on my phone, when I plug in the usb cable it does not recognize the phone. After plug in it says "MTP Media Player"??? the conncct as MTP OR Camera (PTP)

It never did that before when I connected to my computer there would be a file on my computer for the phone, I don't know why this is happening after the recent update and I cannot transfer files now.

Can anyone help me or had the same issue since the update?

Have you chosen MTP? Pull your drop down notification bar down and choose. There should also be USB setting inside of the Settings app.

-- don't know how to find MTP as a setting
-- my drop-down notification bar doesn't show MTP as an option

There should also be USB setting inside of the Settings app.
-- not anymore (since the latest system update), used to be there - now the USB Setting option is 'gone'

Any other suggestions?
