Smile Galaxy S2 SPH~D710 running way to slow?

Im not sure if a post has been done on this topic or not I did some research and didnt find what I was looking for. I just took on the Galaxy S2 and it would seem my phone is not running at full pace. The phone is 3 days old and maybe someone on here knows if there is something that I need to do to make performance better. Its just really laggy, and network is sloppy. So if someone can give me the list of things I need to do or turn on or off that is blocking performance it would be appreciated. Or is it that Sprint has not developed that great of a network where I live? Or all of the above lol. Wait for ice cream sandwiche update will help? Thanks for any and all input.

It may be possible that you just have to do a factory reset on it. If that doesn't increase performance on it then you should have it exchanged. This could also sort out your network issues.

You've only had it for a few days so your phone should be very very fast.

I would normally suggest looking at what you have running in the background, but I have had my phone for a long time now and it never slows down. Press and hold your home key, select Task Manager, and look at the running applications. If nothing is running then select ram at the top and clear it to see how it performs.

Another thing to consider is how often you reboot your phone. Sometimes you have to do this to clear the cobwebs out.

Otherwise, download Samsung Kies onto your computer, create a complete backup, and then factory wipe your phone using Kies or on your phone under Settings, Privacy.

Okay thank you I will of course save all the info you gave me for things to try. It seems that by clearing my Ram by holding the home key has speed up the phone quite a bit. I have been doing that speedtest application and it doesn't even go over 1,000 most times. It fluctuates from 100 to 300 range. And I feel that is bad taking it a business partner of mines phone is in the 8,000 to 9,000 plus range lol But if worse comes to worse I will take it to the carrier and have them fix or replace the phone. Thanks again Ollie for the assistance.

I would attempt the backup and restore. It could make a big difference.

I may sound like a super noob here. But now is my opportunity to ask since I did this on my old Droid 2 global and some how wiped out my apps and files. How do u correctly back up and restore the phone. I'll do it today if I get good directions. Or send me a link to a previous post if possible? Thanks Ollie.

You will indeed end up wiping everything on the phone.

Download Samsung Kies onto your computer and install it.
Create a backup of everything using Kies.
Factory reset your phone using Kies or using the phone (Settings, Privacy, Factory Data Reset.
Afterwards restore from the backup that you made in Kies.

I believe you will lose saved game info etc, but contacts, pictures, apps, music, call logs, etc will be restored.

You should download advanced task killer in the market and that will keep you on point with auto killing apps.

You have a task killer built into the phone. Long press the home button and select Task Manager.

^^ This. ^^ No need for an automated task killer. They do more harm than good.
