If you recall you helped walk me through using Odin to flash the Siyah kernel, which came with clock work mod, and have since used CWM to flash a more recent Siyah kernel. Now if JB is released for the international version would I be able to flash that and have it work as intended?

No, not the international version. Your hardware is too different. Never do that as it will brick your phone.

If a dev packages a stock U.S. JB rom for CWM then yes you will be able to flash straight on the phone. Otherwise it will be flashable via Odin Mobile or Odin on the PC.

When it drops there will be many variations to choose from. Mostly flashable through CWM.

Steve, to expand on what Ollie is saying - we've unfortunately had a number of AT&T owners of the SGS2 who have come here looking for help because they tried to install an international version of one of the roms. The result was disaster - hard bricked phone.

Ah....This would be one of the reasons why I'm always EXTREMELY hesitant to download ANYTHING from XDA unless I am 100% certain I know what I am downloading and whether or not it'll work. I applied my own reasoning when I went from the Siyah kernel I had to the more recent one I found one XDA but I'm not willing to change kernels unless I know for sure it'll work and have a good reason for switching. As for ROM's....that whole thing still sketches me out because they all admit to having bugs and have their own requirements as far as kernels and such. Not to mention I've learned modems are something that can be changed as well. It all leaves me feeling very overwhelmed. I'll just hang around here to see when something legit for my phone drops.

That's the thing about XDA. It's dangerous but if successful could yield insane results.

The thing to do at XDA is read, read, and read some more, and only ask questions that haven't been asked before. Otherwise, it's a great place! That's where all the magic happens, it's just ashame it's not a little more user friendly over there. The only reason I go over there is to download files and get instructions. Been a member for 2 years and have made all of 10 posts there. Literally.

Well, I'm a Recognized Contributor there and we HAVE to be the nice guys.....
The thing about XDA is self-service. If an answer is there, search for it. They're probably tired of answering the same things over and over again, unlike here of course.
XDA is also very strict in terms of profanity (like over here), but dev work is highly appreciated there, especially in dev-deprived areas.

    True!
They didn't used to be very strict regarding profanity over there.....it used to be like the wild wild west.....anything goes!
Glad to hear they actually moderate over there now.

LOL! Ollie gets the loyalty award for today. Actually, I never had any personal problems with that forum - which is an *unmatched* source for rom's and cutting edge software - because I avoided asking dumb questions and followed their rules.

That's really the key to surviving on ANY forum. Read the rules and follow them. If you don't like or agree with them, go somewhere else.
