problem w/ app closing for no reason

I don't know what this issue is, whether it is a hardware or software problem, but i figured i'd ask in case someone else knows before i take it back into the store. i'll be using an app (playing angrybirds for example) and the app will suddenly exit to the homescreen. first few times i thought i'd accidentally hit the home button, but it continues to happen even when i'm careful to avoid the buttons at the bottom. I'm on sprint with the epic 4g (which is the galaxy s2 right?) any suggestions would be much appreciated.

So this is only happening with Angry Birds? If so you could try going to Settings, Applications, Manage Applications, Angry Birds, Clear Data. This will erase any levels you have beaten, but could clear up the Force Closure. If it is a general issue with most apps you could try to do a factory reset and see if it continues after you have wiped the device. If so I would take it back and swap it out for a new one.

it seems to be a general issue with most apps, it will sometimes freeze or quit on it's own. i'll try the factory rest. thanks!

so after forgetting about this problem for a while, i realized it was occurring mostly when playing plants vs. zombies. a friend of mine told me he'd read somewhere that that particular game was unstable on the gs2 and that it would crash and that was why it was returning to the homescreen. ever come across anything like that before?

Unfortunately, this is a common occurrence in Android due to the gigantic range of devices available. Lucky for us though happens almost twice as much on Apple devices.
