    Wi/fi network scanning

Can somebody please tell me if this phone is supposed to always be scanning for a wi/fi network even when I'm clearly connected?
Also, does it matter if it doesn't automatically switch to "GSM Only" when connected to wi/fi (see top of screenshot)?

    Hi there!

I do not have a GS2...but generally no, it should not be scanning all the time...if it is in fact really scanning. Sorry man, without one in front of me it is hard to trouble shoot. Someone will be a long I am sure.
I cut corners till I break it.
If I help you break it, I will help you fix it...promise!

Thanx Ollie. I guess that's not my battery problem after all.

I think that's pretty standard. Something I've noticed that is normally done to custom ROMs is increasing the period between wifi scans.

If you are running stock then your battery problems are wifi related, but not due to scanning. Wifi sharing and Wifi sharing manager are the culprit. Along with the Software updater and all of the hubs. Then there's the Syncmids, digital clock, fota client, voice commands. Pick one lol.

So this sharing thing is using a lot of battery? And i'm supposed to be sharing whenever I'm on wi/fi?

It can't be turned off, but technically you aren't sharing anything unless you have Allshare or your wifi-direct running. The only way to stop this is to root and then freeze it.
