SGS2 showing battery icon with a yellow triangle and blinking thermometer

Hey guys,

I have a disturbing problem... I have a galaxy s2 which I bought in August (International version, no carrier). I updated from 2.3.3 to 2.3.5 via Kies a week ago...

My phone had been working flawlessly, but today something happened in the morning. I fully charged my phone and unplugged it. However, the notification that shows that my battery is fully charged did not go and the sound that comes when u plug the phone in came repeatedly. It also showed that I was in MTP mode and started the media scanner which did not finish scanning... I switched off and it showed a battery icon (which was showed that the battery was a little more than half charged), along with a yellow warning triangle and a blinking grey triangle with a thermometer on it... The phone also restarted itself without me pressing the power button.... However the same things showed up so I switched it off and took out the battery...
After 2 hours, I put it in, but it showed the same icons again and was not booting...

Now the only way to boot is to first plug it in, switch the phone on, then unplug it... But the MTP mode persists...
Is it a problem in the firmware (unlikely)?

No idea still what's the problem... I have done a factory reset, but there are a few problems still..

The phone no longer shows the icons, but now it automatically restarts when I power it off. The 100% battery charge notifications does not go even when I click it in the notification area after unplugging it. My phone is not being detected by Kies (the message is 'Please connect a device'). Also, the battery consumption is a lot when not in use, compared to before the problem started. I also formatted my SD card, but still these problems persist.

I am thinking of taking my phone to the Samsung Technical care center or whatever it is if this problem is not solved within a day or two...

I just fixed the same problem. The usb board was broken, after I replaced it everything works fine. I had other symptoms as well...the device restarted after power off and sometimes the usb port indicated a plugged connection when nothing was connected....also the battery level was indicated wrong.

I Ordered a USB board like this one...
Samsung Galaxy S II i9100 Charging Port Ribbon
and replaced it.

Sorry Ollie. Just came back because I have similar problems now with Android 4.0.3
With my browser both links still work. (location: germany, OS: Win7, Browser: google chrome)

Just wanted to share the information that time. Since then I never had the problem anymore. Until I now I plugged a protection case with battery. I updated to Android 4.0.3 about a week ago.
But the problems seems to be, that if a usb plug bend the contacs inside the USB board breaks. I will order a new one and see what happens.

I hope it still helped you to fix the problem.

My phone seems to break all chargers. The charger doesn't click in to my phone after a few charges. Now i have a yellow sign when i plug my charger in. Does it mean my battery won't charge? It keeps going in and out. It also doesn't stay charged for long periods of time. I can not be on it and it'll die. I can turn it off at 80% and turn it back on and it'll be almost dead. whats wrong? is it my battery
