My Samsung Galaxy S2 overheats. How can I deal with this?
What are you doing when it over heats, and is it on the charger when it over heats.

I think that's part of the battery drain bug. Do you use Titanium Backup? Can you try freezing Wifi Sharing? That won't stop you from using your phone as a wifi hotspot. Apparently this process comes up frequently and causes the battery drain and heats up the phone. Not 100% certain that this will fix your problem, but certainly something worth trying...

I had a problem the other day that my s2 overheated and caused the phone to shut down automatically.
When this happened to me it was on charge and I took some photo's after unplugging from the charger and then plugged it back into the charger when finished
taking the photo's.
I have Elixir E2 app and have created a widget on my home screen informing of the temperature of the phone battery.
So what measures will help for unrooted phones?
Using apps with heavy CPU tolls while on the charger is a sure fire way to get a phone to over heat.
Best advice I can really give for a unrooted phone that's over heating.
Is 1 app at a time. Make sure you completely back out of a app before moving to the next. Try not to play with the phone alot while its on a charger. Try not to keep screen brightness at Max for extensive periods of time, its very taxing on the battery which causes heat. Don't run any task managers. They are notorious for causing problems, up to and including phones over heating aand shutting down. Cut down.on extensive game.playing for long periods of time. And don't leave your phone in the sun. Best I got for stock phones with that problem.
If you do all the above and still get overheating. I would go to the carrier and see what they say.

I had mine on the charger the other day and when I picked it up the battery was 114 degrees. I had a weather radar program running. That was the only case I've seen. Dropped right back to 82 or so in a few minutes.

For your case I would say the radar weather thing~a~ma~jig running while on the charger definitely caused that.
Also phone relying heavy on Widgets seem to over heat alot more since.
