App "Not available in your country" or "not compatible with your device"

One app I'd like to install is Wolfram Alpha. I'm trying to download from google account. However, it says that it's not compatible with my device.

I'd like to purchase it, but there doesn't seem to be a way to do so. Any suggestions?

Also, it says that some apps aren't available in my country. I can use a internet proxy to get to the page, but it still claims that it's not compatible with my device. Is there any reason why it won't let me download certain apps? I'm a bit puzzled as to why this is.

If your getting the error its not compatible with your device, then there is nothing you can do about that until the dev makes it compatible with your device. It could be anything from the software version you are on to the processor your phone has that could make the app unusable right now.

Seems to be mainly paid apps. For instance, I can download the free version of one app, but not the paid version of it. I don't think that for that particular device, it's a software issue.

Addendum: Upon inspection, some people with my device have downloaded the app in question that I want to download.

Are those people in the same country as you?

One of them is (for a dictionary app).

I did some searching online and I believe it may be an issue with the phone company not allowing us to download paid apps.

Have you tried market enabler? It is an app on the market that will solve your "not available in your region" problem... I just stumbled on it right now....

You have to be rooted to use it.

Rooting is the same as having admin rights on a computer. It gives you access to the root of the phone. It does however void your warrenty and runs the risk of bricking your phone if not done properly.
