    Kies Firmware Issues

When I connect my device to Kies, it says my device does not support firmware upgrades through Kies. What do I do?

Additionally, my device has been acting up: the charger will not be recognized as connected, my computer will sometimes not recognize the device is connected, and my phone rarely ever turns off, it always reboots. Does anyone have any ideas how to fix any of these problems? Thanks

    Which phone do you have?

Are you using the factory USB cable?

My phone had an issue where it would not charge with the wall wart. I had to pull the battery, plug the phone into the wall, then replace the battery and reboot.

I have had that problem with Kies as well. Have you checked to see if Kies has an update? You can also try to have Kies reinstall the drivers too under Diagnose Connection Problems.

You could always try a factory restore as well under Settings, Privacy. It will wipe your device so try to save any pertinent data before hand.

I have the Galaxy s2 epic 4g touch.

Yes, I am using the factory cable, and sometimes it works, sometimes it does't do a thing.

Do you have any idea why my phone won't plain shut off? All it does is reboot. I can't seem to figure this out. I have tried the factory reset and the problem was fixed for about a day, and then it returned the same as ever.

I did update Kies. However, the same message still appears. I do not know what else to try. It still says my device does not support firmware upgrading.

Yes. When I use a different Samsung charger (one without USB connectivity), everything is absolutely fine. Does this imply that the chord is at fault?

Have you tried completely uninstalling Kies and then reinstalling it?

I have no idea why your phone won't shut off. Maybe it is firmware related. I personally would find the most current firmware for your phone and flash it using Odin. If it still persists then you are having hardware issues.

Have you spoken to Sprint about this?

I have tried re-installing Kies and the problem persists.

I have been reading on other forums that these same problems have been cropping up, and most think its a hardware issue: specifically with the usb port on the phone, but I can't be sure that is the case with my phone.

As far as talking to Sprint, I will get there this week. I just haven't had the time lately.

Is flashing with Odin difficult? And could you possibly post a link to a thread that demonstrates to do so? Sorry, I'm quite new to all of this.

I'm not sure what causes that glitch in Kies. I usually flashed everything using Odin on my pc manually.
