You have to unzip it once. You should end up with one tar file. If you end up with more than one file then you unzipped it too many times.

Exit out of anything Kies related on your PC. Check your task manager!
Turn your phone off and do not have it plugged into your PC.
Rightclick Odin and select Run as Administrator.
Put your phone into download mode. Press and hold volume down+power button until it reboots. If it asks you press volume up to confirm.
Your PC may start installing drivers. If it does allow it to completely finish.
Once in download mode plug the factory USB cable into your phone and then into your PC. Do not use a USB hub.
Odin should recognize your phone. The top left box in Odin should turn yellow and ID Com will display some random numbers.
Make sure only Autoreboot and Freset are checked on the left.
    Select the PDA button.
Navigate to the tar file you unzipped earlier and select it.
    Press Start.
Do not interrupt the process, bump the USB cable, etc. or your phone will be a paper weight.
It will reboot when it is done.
    Profit.
Great help brother, its working for me, thanks a lot

Hey guys I have just bought the Samsung s2 19100 from ksa and it was first used yesterday in " Egypt" ,, i downloaded some applications and played around for a while and i "guess" it asked me for an upgrade and I said okay..
After that it kept up lagging so i restarted the whole mobile and all I have now is A screen glowing "Samsung galaxy s2" :S ....I was really shocked because I just got it..
What should i do to get it to work again ?

Mariam, i was having the same problem and solved it using the following :

Download this Egypt firmware and unzip it once with a program called 7Zip. It will end up being a tar file which you will flash using Odin in the PDA slot.

Download the firmware you have been linked to.

Then you should download 7Zip with which you will extract your firmware one time. You can get 7Zip here: http://www.7-zip.org

You will end up with a single tar file. This tar file will be sent to your phone using Odin 1.85. You can find Odin here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/atta...3&d=1304094576

Extract Odin one time as well.

Once everything is finished downloading and you have installed 7Zip on your PC extract the Odin download and the firmware download into your new folder.

    1. Unplug your phone from your PC.
    2. Turn off the phone and then reboot it by using the following button combination: press and hold the Volume Down, the Home Button, and the Power Button at the same time until the phone reboots.
    3. On your PC launch Odin by right clicking it and selecting Run as Administrator. Make sure nothing Samsung related is running in the background of your PC. Check your task manager!
    4. Plug your phone into your PC using the factory supplied USB cable that came with the phone. Do not plug it into a USB hub. If your computer starts installing some drivers at this point then let it finish!
    5. In Odin, you will see the top left box turn yellow and ID Com will display a random number. This means Odin has recognized your phone. If it doesn't then start over from Step 1.
    6. In Odin make sure that the only things check marked are Auto Reboot and F Reset. Select the PDA button on the bottom right and target the .tar file that you downloaded and extracted earlier.
    7. Press Start. Be certain not to interrupt the process and when it is finished the phone will reboot on its own. It could take a few minutes for the phone to rebuild the caches so be patient.

If the phone gets stuck on the Samsung boot screen then reboot into recovery and perform a factory data wipe. Recovery is Volume Up+Home+Power Button. Navigate with the volume keys and make your selection with a tap of the power button.

Hello Wu - welcome to the forum!

I'm going to ask you to hang on for a bit, until one of our technical people can swing by and give you a hand with your problem.
