Notifications won't ring/vibrate after ICS update

    Hi guys,

I'm new to this forum and the Galaxy 2 in general. I switched from an LG Thrill 4G to the Galaxy S2, and I'm loving it so far. However, I recently did the ICS update, and now my text messages or other notifications won't vibrate or ring. This usually only happens after a while, like if I've been using the phone for a bit or during certain times of the day. When I notice it, I'll usually reboot/restart my phone, and the notifications will start ringing and vibrating again. After a few hours though, the vibrating and ringing will stop. It's starting to get rather frustrating since I keep having to restart my phone. Samsung support just automatically told me to do a factory reset, but after 3 replacement phones and multiple factory resets, I'd like to explore what my other options are.

Also, my phone is set to ring and vibrate already, plus all the volumes are set on high.

    Thanks!

Have you checked the Toggle in your notification bar to see if it is enabled when it stops working?

Also, did you install any location aware or notification manager applications?

    Thanks everyone!

How do I go about checking the Toggle in my notification bar to see if it is enabled? My texts will show up on the notification bar, and my phone will light up when it comes in, but it still doesn't ring/vibrate sometimes. I didn't install any of those apps either.

Just pull down the notification bar and make sure your sound toggle isn't turned off.

Thanks. On my sound toggle, though, there isn't an option for sound. Could be an ICS thing, but all my volumes are on the highest levels and vibrate is also turned on. Still having that issue though, I've rebooted my phone twice today already

It has to be a system glitch. That is not normal behavior.

Alright, so I sucked it up and did a factory reset on my phone. Unfortunately, it still hasn't fixed the issue. This is starting to get really frustrating, it seems like restarting my phone is the only solution, and that's not even a permanent one.

Plus, the reset now keeps my contacts' Facebook profile pictures from syncing to their numbers on my phonebook. Their Facebooks are synced, it's just not showing up their pictures.

I was really looking forward to this model too. It's still an upgrade from my LG Thrill, but I just wish that I didn't have so many issues with the Android software.

I don't really know much about Facebook since I don't have a Facebook account so I'm not sure why the photos don't sync.

When I had the S2 it was on GingerBread which was super stable. I never made the transition to ICS on it.

There has to be something that is being missed here.
