Phone keeps shutting off after sleep mode

Today, I noticed that my phone has turned off twice, while on sleep mode. This just happens when I don't check it for a while and the display is turned off. When I do go to check my phone, it's unresponsive, even if I hold down the power button. So far, I've had to remove the batter every time this has happened, and it will turn back on.

I just don't get what the issue is. I'm probably missing phone calls because I'm not even aware that my phone is turning off. I feel like after the ICS update my phone has had issues. I already performed a factory reset last week since I was having a problem with the notifications not ringing and vibrating, and now, this is happening on top of that.

If anyone has any suggestions, that would be greatly appreciated.

    I have a Samsung Galaxy S2 i777 from AT&T.

Oh, and another thing, I noticed that my batter is at 95-100% before it shuts off by itself, and once it boots up again it's down to 85-89%.

I'm not sure why you are getting the Coma symptom. Your phone is clocking too low while at idle.

The battery issue stems from the fact that the S2 uses enormous amounts of power to boot itself. That is why it boots so quickly. There is nothing that can be done about that other than not booting as often (which you obviously have no choice in the matter due to the comatose).

Do you think it could be an issue with my phone overheating? I noticed that it does that after I've been using it for a while, like texting or using the internet, and then I set it down to do other stuff when I notice that it's turned off. My phone usually feels really hot too, and the case I have for my phone probably does not help either.

    Any suggestions?

I don't think that it is temperature related. If your phone was running too hot it will shut down to a cool down screen that tells you it is too hot.

The only things I can suggest to do is perform another factory data reset using Samsung Kies (after making a backup) or flash ICS again using Odin. Or, flash GingerBread again using Odin.

    read this>
phone is actually going into SOD(Sleep Of Death)
    go into
1-Go into settings menu and ckick applications,
    2-click the all tab
3-find the clock app, the one that come defualt on s2, not one from play store
there will be 2 entries of the same clock app
both have a disable buuton, but one may be greyed out.
4-click the disable button on the clock app were it is active, then go to other clock app and click clear data
    5-now reboot phone.
It appears that the update caused a 2nd appearance of the clock app, causeing havoc and and worlwide hysteria.

Hi I am having Galaxy S2 GT9100 and having same problem since the day I bought(Delhi, India) this phone. Visited the service center couple of times but it seems that technicians are not capable enough to understand and analyse the problem. Moreover, they just do the software re-set and will say they have not heard about this issue from anywhere nor they experienced it when they kept my phone for watch, which is completely unbelievable.

I am trying to take up this issue with Samsung ppl as the current reply is very unsatisfactory
