I am reposting this on a new thread, I had posted the same information under <http://www.galaxyforums.net/forum/galaxy-s2-help/4076-bricked-my-galaxy-s2-please-help-14.html#post90213>
Hello All,
This thread made me feel better as I feel that there is some hope for me from the "Rescue Squad"
I share a similar story like you guys of bricking my own phone unknowingly and stupidly (that's me)
This is what I did today and right now there is no charger to boost my battery of "hope" other than this forum.
++ I tried to update to ICS when the news was out of ICS in India
++ The software update showed me some small update of around 36MB I guess and I kept postponing it.
++ I clicked install by mistake and it went through smooth.
++ The phone was now not being recognized by PC and PC was trying to install drivers constantly.
++ I again updated it to some patch (around 49MB) and it went through fine.
++ Still PC failed to recognise
//// This is the over-confidence part and I regret it a lot now \\\\
++ I thought that the update might solve the issue of reconnecting with PC / Kies
++ Again I tried to install one more software update of 12MB and then it was stuck on Samsung
Galaxy SII (logo); the phone did not reboot
++ I tried to be over-smart and downloaded ODIN 1.85
++ Also downloaded "GT-I9100_INU_I9100XXLPQ_I9100ODDLP7_I9100DDLP8.tar.md 5" (extracted from a rar file - GT-I9100_INU_I9100XXLPQ_I9100ODDLP7_I9100DDLP8.rar)
++ I followed the procedure of bringing the phone in download mode (vol-down + home + power) and it went in this mode
++ Selected the md5 file in PDA, "Repartition" was no checked. Only "Auto Reboot" and "F-Reset Time" was.
++ PDA was checked and the md5 file was selected in it
++ ODIN recognized it at COM:9 if I am not wrong
++ Pressed the start button and then ODIN gave me error that was similar to
------------
<ID:0/007>NAND Write Start!!
<ID:0/007>
<ID:0/007>Complete(Write) operation failed
------------
++ I then realised that since the phone was not booting, I completely forgot about the "USB Debugging" step (I was desperate to see it running again)
++ Now, its stuck with a logo of (phone)--- /_\---(pc) (yellow triangle with exclamation mark)
I am from India and my phone details under the battery are :
-------------
Model : GT-I9100G
SSN : -I9100GGSMH
FCC ID : A3LGTI9100G
-------------
I was on GingerBread 2.3.6 and I do not care about being in ICS or Gingerbread now.
Is it possible to get my phone back to work or is it now a expensive paperweight ??
Will my data be still there and anyway to recover it ??
My hopes are all on this thread and forum now ...
Please suggest me the steps and I would follow it religiously!
-------------------------
Status of the phone :
-- Stuck at (phone)--- /_\---(pc)
-- Cannot go in "recovery" or "download" mode
-- Probably, USB debugging is NOT turned on
-------------------------
Eagerly waiting for your reply "Rescue Squad"
/Sameer
