Manual mode issue

I have searched all over the net and can not find an answer to this issue. My phone would not make it past the final load screen and was slugish with lots of freezing, I desided to do a hard reset. I am now stuck in manual mode because my soft keys and power button will not allow me to select factory reset. I have pulled the battery for over 10 min and tried rebooting several times with no success. Any help anyone can give me would be great.

You can attempt an emergency factory data reset using Samsung Kies on your PC. The option is available from the top of the Kies toolbar.

I have tried. My computer will not sense the device.

What does this manual mode look like?

As follows:

Android system recovery <3e>

Enter: OK Key. Select : Vol UP / Vol Down
Reboot system now
apply update from sdcard
wipe data/factory reset
wipe cache partition

followed by triangle with ! in it and the little bot then

Ok. That is recovery mode. Have you tried the wipe from within recovery?

Yes, the volume keys allow me to move the selection up and down at will so it isn't frozen but I cant actually select anything. I have tried pushing every button on the phone lol, altho i know its the home or power button. I was going to try my hand at odin but I can't get into download mode so I cant. Also, kies does see the phone, it just cant sync up.

Kies has an emergency firmware recovery option. Have you tried that?
