    poor wi-fi connection?

My home wi-fi connection from my Virgin super-hub to my phone is quite poor,my laptop and galaxy tab 10.1 are very good and I can keep the connection right into my garden, but if I leave the room where the hub is with my phone it looses it ???

I have the virgin router on "n" 5GHz level I am wondering is there is a way to see what "level" the phone is on ???

On my phone I toggle between 2.4 and 5 GHz through the Settings app under Wireless and Networks, Advanced.

5Ghz is not a super strong signal especially if it has barriers to bypass.

Advanced options. It should let you dictate the GHz.

Advanced options show: Wi-Fi sleep policy...MAC address...Proxy...and Port ???? Underneath them shows Use static IP but that is unchecked ?

Interesting, you do not have the option: WiFi frequency band at all? That is where you would change it. Some phones do not have the option to do so, and the phone does it on it's own.

Also, as Ollie stated, 5Ghz does not work well through barriers. I have the same issue you do with my GNex. The only phone that has successfully worked from my garage to the router on 5Ghz was my Motorola Atrix 4G. The 5Ghz band attenuates at a faster speed than 2.4Ghz, and does not penetrate as well. However, with great signal strength and low interference, it will do much more data!

You phone must be on Auto then.

Put my old US Robotics router back on and 10 times better than Virgin Hub. Can use my phone in the garden now whereas Virgin hub faded if I left the lounge
