Ollie, My phone is not associated to any Telecom, it is unlocked..
can i get the same firmware which is currently running on my phone - the firmware version as shown in Kies is -
Current Firmware - PDA : LPG/ PHONE:LPG/ CSC:LPG(TGY)
Also this must be a Unbranded firmware, not linked to any telecom. The region is Hong Kong.
Will i be able to use Kies to Update the firmware, after i flash the phone?
Thanks !
This is ICS for TGY HongKong. Download it to your PC. http://www.hotfile.com/dl/153360784/...G_TGY.zip.html

That is the firmware you are running right now. It should clear up any bugs.
And yes, it will allow you to continue receiving updates

Hi Ollie,
Before i could flash my phone with ODIN, i saw that an Update was available with KIES, which was 4.0.4 update.
So i updated my phone, it updated with no problem. I even checked the update in settings>about> it showd version 4.0.4.
But still it gets hanged. This time not at the logo launch, but while it has booted. then it switched off by itself. and gets hot, like before. sometimes it will work for a while before freezing abruptly.
Then it will not switch on again. Need to try a 100 times ..
Is upgarding through kies, not same as flashing and updating with ODIN?
Is it a hardware problem? any Idea?please suggest...
should i still go ahead with ODIN?, but i have 4.0.3 firmware, that you gave me...
Odin is used by Samsung to manually flash softwares on their phones. Kies automates the process for us end users, but both programs achieve the same goal.
You should try a factory data reset from within your phone settings and see if the issues are still there.
If they are then I would flash the file with Odin.

Hi Guys, I had updated my Samsung S2 to 4.0.4, still it dint solve my problem. Frustrated with the condition of my phone i went to the samsung Service center in HK.
They then repaired it. It is working well now. THEY SAID THEY CHANGED THE MAIN BOARD. SO IT WAS A HARDWARE PROBLEM. I don't know how it happened. I was lucky i had the warranty.
But never heard or seen such a issue with samsnsung S2 on the internet. It consumed a lot of my time and effort. I guess, if someone experiences similar problems, its better if they not waste their time, and go to the Service center.
Thanks guys for help. May god bless. AH
I have exactly the same issue
Have the phone now since Jan 2012 and since the new update received around Sept 2012 the phone just freezes. It done the same just now. and I almost hammered it to pieces!!!!!! so frustrating this is. when is Samsung going TO FIX this bad patch!!!!!!!! it is so frustrating I am thinking of going back to Nokia as I never got this from them.
If EVERYBODY is complaining about the same issue why is Samsung not doing anything or are they just pushing to get the new S3 and other products on the market and dont care about the current users???????????
If this is the way we get treated for buying a Samsung I much rather return to Nokia
