Severe battery drain and very hot phone

My Galaxy S2 just received an update, and ever since it has been going through battery awful quick, even just on standby. I unplugged it this morning (had been charging all night) and less than an hour and a half later I pulled it out at work (hadn’t used it at all) and it was below 90% battery. From being on standby for 1.5 hours.

I have barely used my phone today, except to send a few texts, and I had it plugged in to my computer for about twenty minutes or so this afternoon. I am currently sitting at 23% battery, and my phone is very hot to the touch. There is obviously something draining the power on it and causing it to heat up, but I’m not sure what.

Have you checked what processes are taking up CPU in Settings > About Phone > Battery Use ?

It was about 25% screen and 25% standby, everything else minor processes (less than 8% each). Not sure how 15 minutes or less of screen and 9 hours of standby equates to that much of my battery.

Since you just updated, have you performed a factory restore? It often cleans up the mess left behind from the upgrade from one major OS to another.
