    Fix worked for me!

    I didn't care much for backing up my logs so I cleared them. Then I did the full backup (incl. logs, empty now ^^) with KIES and it WORKED!!! Thanks guys!

    Red face just wanted to say hello and thanks....

    I just registered for this forum because there is alot more answers here than at samsung support! So, thank you, all −−especially philipie! I have a galaxy tab that used to update ota but now will not update, backup, or connect to pc −− only with kies air, and still, it will not backup anything. I got to thinking after support gave me the old "master reset" bullcr@p, I thought I would just remove some data from a few system apps (the ones I could see−− tab is not rooted). Wssyncsmlnps was one I needed to look up, and I was surprised at what it had to do with. Over at xda, people were stumped about ota not working and why (as far as I could search). I will let you know what happens. I am very aggravated with samsung for having no answers for this other than a reset. In fact, i knew much more than the tech i online chatted with. It was more like abbott and costello than customer and support tech! I own 4 samsung devices, and three of them have this problem. My galaxy note is rooted, so I kinda worked around some problems there, but I was just so happy to find this thread!

    Hi everyone

    Thought i'd chip in with a different 'answer' to backup not working between Samsung Galaxy S2 on Kies on Mac OS X ...

    No idea how you'd go about all this log deleting on the Mac, and i've been having this problem now for months - Kies for Mac (OS X Snow Leopard 10.6.8), even the latest version of Kies, would see my S2 (running Android 4.0.4) but backups would hang, endlessly 'preparing' for backup.

    However, today i set USB debugging mode to 'on' and tried to back up - bingo, works fine. It shouldn't (early Kies wouldn't see the S2, as i remember) with USB debugging set to 'on') but it has.

    I hope this helps others. i'm now off to repost this in two other threads on this forum about the same thing!

    I too was having the same problem with the "wssyncmlnps stopped working". I was able to complete Philipie's advise and I think it worked. However, reading back through the thread has raised new questions for me. What is KIES and should I be doing something to back up my phone with KIES? I am new to Samsung after recently escaping the Apple Garden. The rep at the Verizon store told me that the phone backs up through the cloud but I feel unsure about it.

    Also, am I supposed to be doing something to install updated operating systems or is this done automatically?
