    Authentication Error Occurred - repeatedly!!

Hello - I love my Galaxy SII, but for some reason when I'm at home I cannot connect to my Wi-Fi. I have iPods and laptops and TVs that have no problem connecting, but every time I try I get the following error: Authentication Error Occurred

I tried finding a thread about this on this forum but I couldn't, or maybe I didn't look long enough. Per the instructions, here is some information about my phone:

    Carrier: Sprint
    Model #: SPH-D710
    Android Version: 4.0.4
    Baseband Version: S710.10 S.FH13
    Kernel Version: 3.0.15
    Build Number: IMM76I.FH13

If anyone can offer me any help, I would be so grateful!!

    Thanks,

    Nick

Hello Nick, and welcome to the forum!

I'm going to ask you to hold on for awhile until one of our Rescue Squad guys can swing by and give you a hand. I'm not a technician and haven't a *clue* as to how to help you, but the RS guys are pros and have the answers. Hang in there for a bit.

I appreciate the response and the video, but that just really showed me how to use my laptop to boost my signal. My router is in the next room and I have no issues with signal strength. I just cannot get attached to my wi-fi. The Galaxy finds the signal and tries to connect, but every time I get close it says Authentication Error Occurred. Can anyone help? Please?!?!

Re: Authentication Error Occurred - repeatedly!!

Sorry i can't offer much help with this one, but I did a Google search using "wifi authentication error galaxy S2" and this was what i came up with.
One person suggested resetting your router. Another suggested:
    * *Turns out the MMS Proxy was set to 10.1.1.180 instead of the needed 10.1.1.181 doesnt seem like much but did it and im all set again.*

If one of these two fixes don't work, try Googling the above search suggestion, you'll get quite a few hits that may help.
    Good luck!

I have the same problem. Started about two days ago. I haven't changed any settings on the phone, or the router. And I connect just fine to the office wireless, and also a neighbors unsecured wireless. Also my laptop connects just fine. Very strange.

This helped me (a step in the right direction)

I have a Samsung S3. I have had it for about 2 months, and last week I started getting these Authentication Errors.
As a rule, they start at about 8 or 9pm and last all night. During the day, it generally works without any issues. Once the error occurs, it occurs for all WiFi connections - not just my home connection. All other devices on my home connection are working without any problems.
I searched the web, and found a solution which helped a little (Forget Network, Power Off/On, And reconnect to the internet when it is back on. It works for a short while, possibly only minutes before it goes again.
Yesterday, I found the following, and while it is not 100% effective, I did see a significant improvement - it may help others...

    1. Open up the Galaxy S3 phone dialer
    2. Then dial *#0011#
(note: the asterix is part of the entry)
    3. Look for the “ServiceMode” screen and press the left menu button
    4. Select “WiFi”
    5. You should see that the “WiFi Power Save Mode” button is “ON” – now put it on “OFF”
    6. Your done! Just exit the menu, switch off your WiFi, then switch it back on again. If your router details are saved and automatically connects, get your Galaxy S3 to forget or delete the network information. Then reconnect, putting in all the required information.

As I say, it is not the end of the problem for me, but it did help a great deal - good luck!

Buckshornet, who is your carrier or what carrier was the article referring to? The reason I ask is that the suggestion that you dial *#0011# may be specific to just one particular carrier, and it's probably a CDMA one at that. Thanks for posting the instructions - we just need a bit of clarification is all.

I would like to make note that I am running AOKP JB Milestone 1 on my AT&T Galaxy S III and that command will not open the Service Mode screen.
