Contacts on existing sim

Hope someone can give me some advice thanks.

I have just received my Galaxy S2 as a replacement for a Nokia Experia 8,
(I am unable to use the Nokia for anything other than answering calls due to a
blacked out screen.)

I transferred the Sim card to the S2, however my contacts are only showing
the first two letters of the entry and have lost e-mail addresses and fax info etc.
and appear to have seperated into duplicate entries in places.

I'm not well versed in the mobile or android field and would appreciate if there
was someone who could guide me in the right direction to salvaging my data.
