Firmware upgrade recovery mode

Hi,
I tried upgrading my firmware for my Galaxy S2 LTE using kies but disconnected when the transfer stopped mid-way. Kies is not recognizing it, but odin does. My biggest problem is getting into download mode which I assume should still be <power> + <home> + <volume down> but that just restarts the device and goes straight back into recovery. If I could get into download mode I know I can flash stock ICS from there. Just wondering if there is somthing I'm missing to get to download mode from here

There should be a option in recovery to reboot into download mode.
