Firmware Upgrade Encoutered An Issue On Samsung Galaxy SII

So I bought a Samsung Galaxy SII from someone i know and it had Gingerbread (2.3.3), so I wanted to upgrade it to Jelly Bean using Kies.
While it was upgrading it got stuck at 1% for 2 hours so I had no other choice but to remove the USB.
Now, its written Firmware Upgrade Encountered An Issue, Please Select Recovery Mode In Kies And Try Again.
    What should I do
Any help would be really appreciated

Can you get the phone in to download mode? If you can, you should be able to grab the stock firmware for the phone and flash it using Odin. I am at my company's christmas dinner so I do not have all of my resources available to me. But check if you can get the phone in to download mode.

I do need the model number of the phone. You can get this by taking the battery out of the back of the phone and it should tell you right there. I am think if you are on Bell Canada, it should be SGH-I9100M or something similar. There are four different versions of the SGSII for Canada carriers.

Ok!! Here we go!! I downloaded this from Sammobile. It should be the stock ICS image. I looked for the stock JB image, but I don't see that one has been released. What has been released is what appears to be a leak maybe. I am not 100% sure on that. If they did an OTA for JB, I would install that personally. I don't like working with Kies much.

Let me know once you have downloaded and flashed it. You will have extract the .tar file from the zip. That is the file you will load in to Odin. Once you have the file and all is good, I will be removing it from DB. I go over my limit every month due to old Atrix files from the Atrix Forums, lol.

When you click the link I gave you, it should have downloaded a file.

Once the file is downloaded, you have to extract the .tar.md5 file to your desktop.

In Odin, under PDA, you want to select the file on your desktop and hit start.

I am assuming your phone is in Download Mode already?

Ok so now I'm in Download Mode and my S2 is connected to my computer. The .tar.md5 file just finished downloading.
So now I have to enter Odin, check Auto Reboot and F.Reset Time, and click PDA and select the .tar.md5 file.
Anything else I should do before starting?

*I just want to make sure I'm not doing any mistake. I don't want to hard brick my phone *

Re: Firmware Upgrade Encoutered An Issue On Samsung Galaxy SII

You should be okay to go. Make sure it goes through the whole process. It will either say Reset or Done. Once it is done and the phone starts rebooting you should be good to exit Odin and the phone should load up.
