New phone, new user 2 questions (sonic tools and juice defender)

Have had phone in hand about 4 hours.....getting used to the stuff it can do. Looking forward to getting some good info here. Two quick questions right off the bat...

    1. what the heck is "sonic tools" in my icon at top of the phone?? All it say is "looking for GPS"

    2. I installed "juice defender", does this thing work?

I close all tasks other than juice defender when I am not using them,.

Thanks in advance, looking foward to figuring the phone out. Got a great deal at Best Buy..phone was free!

First off Congratulations on your new SF and Welcome to the board! We're glad you signed up! I'm not sure about your first question as I have never seen that specific text or icon on my phone. In regards to your second question, while I am sure JD is a good resource management program, the truth is that the Fascinate actually does a good job on its on of closing programs and procedures when they are not in use. It certainly want hurt to give JD a try but you might want to go with out it for a couple of days at first just so you have a good baseline to test it against when you do use it.

Thanks Ion, the icon at the top of the phone where you drag down to sho wifi, blue tooth, gps is where the sonic tools seems to be running. (just keeps saying searching for GPS ad GPS is disabled) I will keep looking. now if I can figure how to set up the voice mail I will be set. FYI, also have an IPAD and the DROID apps are great and alot are free!

Welcome to the forum, Skinsfan! I have never seen Sonic Tools, either. Then again, I didn't stay on stock Froyo for very long before flashing a custom ROM. If anybody else knows what that Sonic Tools thing is, please shout out.

juice defender is pretty good, whenever mobile data is off you're saving some battery..It's a little slow to turn it back on at times though

I got it killed with advanced task killer. Thanks folks! The top buttons (wifi, bluetooth, gps, mobile data and auto rotation), should these be on or off?

They should only be on if you're using the different services. If you're not using Bluetooth, keep it turned off & you'll save some battery.

thanks Muji, even turn off the mobile data and auto rotation? The book was pretty limited that came with the phone, so a lot of trial and error. I have found out some cool stuff and have a host of apps. Trying to find the cloc/weather app that is on the front of the Thunderbolt...thanks again. This is a great site to learn about the phone, I appreciate your patience!
