    Q about backup and restoring

    Q about nandroid backup and restore.After you are rooted an your on one of your favorite Roms and some where along the the line you mess up or lock up your phone from a flash or a kernal and need to restore Do you have to be rooted to do a restore or can you do a restore from stock If not do you have to be on CM7 / miui/ ect, Can you do a restore from any rom you might be on at the time you have a proplem? (Thanks)

    Not a good idea these days. There are just too many different types of roms and recoveries to backup and restore. Your best bet is to flash from scratch.

    I heard that there is a paid backup app on the market that will back up every thing on your phone just like backing up your compuyer to an external hard drive. no any thing about that.

    Titanium Backup will backup your apps & data. You need to be rooted in order for it to work. My Backup Pro hasn't been getting great reviews as of late.

    That app will not do a nandroid backup (mirror image of operating system). As far as I know there is no app that does that except for CWM recovery. As Mujibar explained My backup pro is very much like Titanium Backup which backs up user apps and settings but not a mirror image of operating system.
