Just saw this and thought I would share. There is now a mod to extend the timeout on the bottom buttons. You can choose 10, 15, or 31 secs. You can now download it through Rom Manager - Download - Jt1134 - Extended Softkey Backlight.

Yes, I am using the 31 as well and it works great, no ill effects seen so far.
