Does it work if you long press the search softkey?

Have you tried deleting the Google Search Widget and re-adding it?

Go to Market and hit Menu>my apps. Check to see if you have the updated version of Google Voice Search installed?

I have a problem with the voice search too, but a little different. Everything in the app seems to work great EXCEPT Google Voice Search will not recognize my contacts, so no "text to" "email to" or "call" actions will work! If I say "text to John Smith, test" (per google's instructions) I get a text with no recipient, the body says: John Smith test. Any "call" requests for my contacts send me to the web.

My contacts ARE synced in the Accounts menu. Per another suggestion I opened Contacts> Menu> import/export> export to SD Card. Then menu> import/export> import to email. No love. I'm running SC2.9.1 and adrynalyne's EB16 non-voodoo kernel.

Zack, I was having the exact same problem. I complained about it in this thread... any one having problems using google voice search - xda-developers

Does that sound like your problem? Well, mine works now. I went from SC to an AOSP build, and it magically started working correctly.

Mike, your post in XDA describes my problem to a tee. I didn't realize that it was recognizing my contacts' funky names on a web search...how odd.

I'm really hesitant to flash a new ROM. It took me a looooong time to get dialed in on SuperClean and I depend on my phone for work. Let's say I do flash an open source rom.....do I do a complete nandroid backup afterwards, or do I select "advanced backup" from CWM and backup only certain things such as data, apps, etc.?

    Thanks in advance!

Never mind my question about backing up after I change to a new ROM because (a) I overcame the lazy and searched out the answers to my questions and (b) I can't switch to AOSP ROM yet because I NEED working bluetooth. I work out of my car (territory sales) and bluetooth is mandatory for me. I hope this gets fixed in the next AOSP build because your other post about it makes it sound awfully appealing!
