I was wondering which setting I would want my phone on, meaning wifi, or gps? Where would I use which, and why.
WiFi is used to connect to the Internet when a wireless connection is available. It's a faster Internet connection than 3G. You can toggle it on when you want to surf the Web if you're somewhere you can connect to a wireless network (like a hotel lobby or Starbucks). Just be sure you don't leave it on when you don't need it. It WILL drain your battery (same w/ Bluetooth).
To be honest, I haven't used the GPS setting for anything ... so maybe someone else can provide an answer for you on that.
The gps obviously is used mainly with google maps to give you directions. But other programs can also use it to determine your location such as weather programs. If you turn it off those other programs will get your location from cell towers so it is ok to leave it off to save battery unless you need navigation.
