Well, factory reset would come to mind. If that does not work, the SD card out. If not, bring the phone to the nearest store for replacement. If that dies not work, Samsung has a one year warranty. They can replace it too.

IMO Galaxy s2 and s3 phones over heat cause they run at a constant CPU speed. So if you're just simply texting or calling someone your phone is running at maximum speed even though it doesn't have to. Just to perform simple tasks. When you root your s2 you can UNDERCLOCK it. S2 phones run at a constant of 1.56ghz I believe. And I under clock mine at a minimum of 540mhz and maximum of 1.24gz it runs very fast and smooth. Making it work less. Making my battery life higher and temperature cooler. I rooted my friends Verizon s3 too. Underclocked it with the same numbers as mine. No more heating issues.
